Meet Our Friendly Baristas

Brewing Up Smiles and Steaming Espresso

Ah, the life of a barista – where every day is a delightful dance of steaming milk, grinding beans, and crafting the perfect cup of java. At Brooklyn’s Georgian Coffee House, we’re lucky to have a team of talented, charismatic baristas who bring their own unique flair to the art of coffee-making. So, let’s take a deep dive into the lives and personalities of these coffee connoisseurs, shall we?

Chelsea: The Coffee Enthusiast

Let’s start with Chelsea, the resident coffee aficionado at our Fairfax location. When Chelsea first joined our team, she was just starting to explore her love for coffee, having worked at a café in a movie theater where she barely had the chance to learn the craft. But the moment she stepped into our doors, she knew she had found her calling.

“I was working at a café in a movie theater when the Fairfax Dolcezza opened, and at the theater, I was there, there was no one to learn coffee from,” Chelsea shares. “I was just starting to become interested in coffee and wanted to learn as much as I could, so I moved to Dolcezza, and here I am.”

And learn she did! Chelsea has become a true coffee connoisseur, with a deep appreciation for the nuances of different regions and brewing methods. “Ethiopia by far” is her favorite coffee region, and she loves to indulge in a pour-over or a Gibraltar cortado on her days off.

But Chelsea’s passion extends far beyond the world of coffee. When she’s not donning her barista apron, you’ll find her outdoors, running, playing tennis, kayaking, or hiking – anything to soak up that fresh air and sunlight. And of course, she’s always found at a cozy coffee shop, book in hand, soaking up the ambiance.

Oh, and let’s not forget about her funny and weird Dolcezza stories – from random dance parties during closing time to a visit from the local biker gang. Chelsea’s infectious energy and genuine love for her work make her a true gem in our coffee house family.

Frances: The Artsy Barista

Now, let’s introduce you to Frances, our friendly neighborhood barista who’s also a BFA student and a proud cat parent. Frances may be new to the coffee scene, but she’s already making a name for herself with her impressive latte art skills.

“Latte art is not a quick or easy skill to obtain, and I have a long way to go,” Frances admits. “But I can fit a fair few stacks into a tulip, and I tell you what – it’s been a fun journey learning this craft.”

Frances’ passion for coffee may be new, but her love for the San Antonio art scene is anything but. As a BFA student, she’s had the privilege of being part of programs like SAY Sí Southwest School of Art and even interning at Artpace during the summer of 2018.

“I’m very lucky to have been a part of programs such as SAY Sí Southwest School of Art, and hey, I’ve even interned at Artpace in the summer of 2018,” Frances says. “It’s a very warm and welcoming community to be a part of.”

When she’s not crafting picture-perfect lattes, Frances can be found indulging in her favorite coffee – a cortado with oat milk. And though she hasn’t “done anything too wild with coffee additives,” she’s always up for a little experimentation, like that time she steamed cold brew.

Frances’ infectious enthusiasm and creative spirit make her a perfect fit for our coffee house. Who knows, maybe one day, we’ll see her pouring a masterpiece of latte art that could rival the greatest works of art!

Introducing the Dynamic Duo: Alex and Jess

Now, let’s talk about the dynamic duo that’s been keeping our customers caffeinated and entertained – Alex and Jess. These two baristas are like the yin and yang of coffee, each bringing their own unique flair to the job.

Alex, the morning mixer extraordinaire, is the one you’ll find greeting our Artpace members every Friday with a smile and a piping hot cup of coffee. He may be the early riser of the bunch, but his infectious energy is enough to wake up even the sleepiest of customers.

“I’m your friendly east side neighborhood barista, BFA student, and cat parent,” Alex introduces himself. And if his warm personality and impressive latte art skills aren’t enough to win you over, just wait until you hear about his best coffee memory – “My earliest coffee memory is my dad letting me steal sips from his Folgers drip. He was so loyal to it.”

Then there’s Jess, the resident coffee connoisseur and all-around cool cat. While Alex may be the morning maestro, Jess is the one who keeps the afternoon crowd caffeinated and entertained with her witty banter and unwavering dedication to the craft.

“I may be a bit of a coffee snob,” Jess admits with a sheepish grin, “but that’s only because I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the best roasters and baristas in the business. I’ve learned to appreciate the nuances of each bean and brewing method, and I love sharing that knowledge with our customers.”

And trust us, Jess’ passion for coffee is only matched by her love for a good pun or an unexpected plot twist. She’s the kind of barista who’ll sneak a surprise shot of espresso into your drink, just to see the look on your face. But don’t worry, she’s always got a cheeky grin and a backup cup ready to make it up to you.

Together, Alex and Jess make the perfect coffee-fueled duo, keeping our customers coming back for more than just a caffeine fix. They’re the heart and soul of our coffee house, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

A Diverse and Talented Ensemble

Of course, our barista team wouldn’t be complete without the rest of our talented and diverse crew. From the ever-reliable Tina, who can whip up a mean latte with her eyes closed, to the enigmatic Kai, whose love for obscure coffee origins is matched only by his skill in latte art, each of our baristas brings something unique to the table.

And let’s not forget our newest addition, the ever-bubbly and charismatic Amelia. Amelia recently joined our team at the Brooklyn’s Georgian Coffee House, and she’s already making waves with her infectious enthusiasm and her unwavering dedication to providing our customers with the best possible experience.

“I may be new to the coffee game, but I’m learning fast,” Amelia says with a grin. “And let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of handing a customer the perfect cup of coffee, made with love and a whole lot of care.”

From the seasoned veterans to the fresh-faced newcomers, our barista team is a diverse and talented ensemble, each bringing their own unique flair and personality to the art of coffee-making. And trust us, if you think the coffee is good, just wait until you get to know the people behind the espresso machines.

So, the next time you step into our cozy Georgian-inspired coffee house, take a moment to appreciate the hard work and passion that goes into every pour, every steam, and every whimsical latte design. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about the coffee – it’s about the people who make it, and the connections they help us forge, one cup at a time.
