Of course, no exploration of Guria would be complete without diving into the region’s rich culinary traditions. As I’ve discovered, the food in this part of Georgia is as diverse and flavorful as the coffee, with influences from the Black Sea coast, the Caucasus Mountains, and beyond.

One of my favorite discoveries was the traditional Gurian dish, Acharuli Khachapuri. This decadent, boat-shaped bread is filled with a gooey, melted cheese blend and topped with a golden-yolked egg. It’s the perfect accompaniment to a steaming cup of Gurian coffee, and I’ve found myself craving it ever since my visit.

But beyond the food and the coffee, what has truly captivated me about Guria is the way of life. There’s a palpable sense of community and tradition that permeates every aspect of the region, from the local markets to the family-owned businesses.
